770 BJB

This was the car which Dick Jacobs allocated to Andrew Hedges, and which he raced during the 1962, '63 and '64 seasons. Like the sister car it was returned to Abingdon at the end of the 1964 season before being entered by the factory in several international events during the following year. Pensioned off by the 'works', it was then sold by the MG Car Co to the late Syd Beer along with its sister car 771 BJB. Unfortunately 770 is rarely seen out today. It is believed to have suffered extensive damage in an accident when Syd's son Malcolm ran into the back of a truck many years ago. The car was eventually rebuilt to its original condition but it is 771 BJB which Malcolm tends to bring out to the occasional display.
